This year saw a range of the world’s top motorcycle manufacturers, including Honda, Ducati, KTM, BMW, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Harley-Davidson, Buell, Triumph and Yamaha at the show. Highlights included the UK debut of the Motto Guzzi’s Stelvio on Aberdeen-based dealer Shirlaws’ stand, and an amazing show from the death-defying duo Heidi and Mikko, aka the Extreme Globeriders! International trials rider Steve Colley also performed his heart-stopping tricks, along with the UKFMX motocross team.
The Carole Nash Classics Pavilion didn’t disappoint with a fantastic selection classic bikes. The Cock ‘o’ the North trophy was presented by the legendary John Cooper (MCN man of the year) and congratulations go to Dave Stewart, with his 1931 Enfield.
2008 Photographer of the Year Competition
Winner of the adult’s category was Mike Little from Peebles, whose winning shot was taken at the Scottish Six Day Trials in 2007, and the winner of the children’s section was Darren Lamb from Livingston, aged 9.
The show has once again kicked the biking season off but if you missed out this year, don’t despair, as details will soon be available for the 2009 show. Keep an eye on www.motorcyclenews.com for more information.
